Divine Discourse
A divine discourse on Shree Raam Kathaa by respected Chinmayaanandh Baapoojee on Aashthaa TV Channel was spritually enlightening and soothed my troubled soul. Baapujee explained the wedding of Lord Shree Raam with Seethaa Devi.
Shree Raam's wedding with Shree Seethaa Devi
Baapoojee explained how King Janaka and his wife queen Sunainaa brought Seethaa Devi up. He mentioned how Queen Sunainaa instilled cultural values in Seetha Devi.
Unfortunately some parents do just the opposite to satisfy their self centred interests.
In his discourse, Baapoojee was occasionally chanting "Wai Guru"; Sikh people chant this in their Gurdwaaraas. I visualise Baapoojee's chanting this as remembering our Lord Shree Krishnaa. I have seen Sikh people taking part in our Hindu Divine Discourses many times.

Divine Discourse
As I write this post, I am viewing a divine discourse on Hanumaan Chaaleesaa by Pundit Vijay Shankar Mehthaaji on Sanskaar TV Channel. He explained the relevance and significance of Hanumaan Chaaleesaa. He explained that when parents give any thing to their children, it is important to give what they need inside than what they need outside. He said in Hindi "Bacchon me kyaa dethe hain" is more important than "Bacchon ko kyaa dethe hain".
I think that today's parents need to take his advice seriously and implement it.

Faithful dog: His Master's Voice
When was studying in high school, our English language textbooks contained many stories from abroad. One was about Hachiko, a dog in Shibuya near Tokyo in Japan. This dog was pet of a local person. This person used to travel to Tokyo for work daily. Hachiko used to see him off at Shibuya Railway Station when he left for work and receive him when he returned to Shibuya every day. On one day, he didn't return. Hachiko waited long after this, and passed away.
As a gesture of respect, local people constructed a statue of this faithful dog in front of Shibuya Station.
Faithfulness of dogs is well known. Decades ago, there was a Gramophone Records Company (in New Jersey, USA) that made the painting of Nipper, a dog, listening to it's master, globally popular and coined 'His Master's Voice'.
I was surprised to find Nachiko featured in this evening's episode of 'Dive in Tokyo'.

World Water Day
Today is International Water Day. It is a well known fact that we abuse, waste and pollute water in different ways to fulfil our self centred needs. In my earlier posts I have described how self centered and greedy rogue business people drained ground water by using powerful machines to construct an apartment complex adjacent to the complex in which I resided.
Like we do in our Indian culture, people in many cultures respect rivers and oceans. Unfortunately this respect is gradually and drastically decreasing.
It is high time that individuals, communities and Governments act to protect natural water resources.

Workplace pressure
This morning I was viewing Money Mind on CNA TV Channel. It featured workplace toxicity and burnout in today's context. In spite of advances in Technology, workplace pressure is some thing that many employees are subjected too. I was no exception. I remember how except when working in PREPARE (A Chennai based NGO), Poorna Prajna High School, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Government of Cambodia, I was subjected to unethical employer pressure leading to my resignation from the posts held by me.
I think that such TV Programs should be viewed and concepts implimented by employers and employees alike.
Modernity with traditional roots
Youngsters often think that being modern means abandoning our age old culture and traditions. This happened even in my college days during the late '60s.
I came across a very interesting and educative serial on DD National Channel. I think that the series is based on Shree Raama Charitha Maanas. It was nice to see Shree Raghavaachaareejee Maharaaj in the series. I tried to provide a link to the episode, but in vain.
Shree Raam's life history is very spiritual and educative.

Lumumba's Africa
It was nice to be back viewing Lumumba's Africa on Russia Today TV Channel. In today's episode, Prof Lumumba explained how western countries exploited African countries. He mentioned how in 1980s USA supplied Maize, that was not fit for human consumption.
We had a similar situation in our country in the 1950s and 1960s. People of my age would remember USA's PL 480 etc. It was due to our own agricultural scientists such as Dr M S Swaminathan that our country's agrucultural self sufficiency improved significantly.
The Western exploitation continues in all developing countries including India.

Back in my residence
Today I am glad to be back at my residence in Chennai after more than two and a half month's stay at my sister's house in Vellore after having fully recovered from my sudden and serious ill health.
In summer, weather in Vellore is hotter than that in Chennai. However, as there was no powercut any time during my stay in Vellore, it wasn't difficult to handle the situation due to fans and AC. Since returning to Chennai, I experience frequent powercuts as before.
I don't understand why the local MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) doesn't do anything to solve the problem. These politicians are only interested in filling their pockets and spending Government financial reserves in giving gifts to people with the only nasty objective of gaining votes by hook or crook. Courts should intervene and punish these shamelessly filthy politicians severely, by ordering life imprisonment or death penalty.
Let all corrupt and nasty politicians get lost for ever.

My visit to the dentist
I had my final visit to the dentist this morning. He made some adjustments so that the dentures would fit perfectly well.
I am thankful to him, his dentist wife, paramedical staff, my niece Sushma (for taking me to the clinic and back), and my sister (for reminding my niece to take me to the clinic), for their kindness.
I was glad to send the following thanksgiving message to them:

Raamaayana Insight
As every Indian knows, Raamaayanaa and Mahaa Bhaarathaa are two well respected Epics of our great country.
All Maadhwaa Bramins know that Shree Madhwaachaarya, founder Sage of Maadhwaa Mutts, has given deeper insights into these epics in his contributions that considered authentic. One such contribution is Mahaa Bhaaratha Thaathparya Nirnayaa.
In this work, he explains that the Seethaa Dhevee who is believed to have been abducted by demon king Raavanaa was a just a human image of real Seetha Dhevee and this image was not real Seetha Dhevee. According to Shree Madhwaachaarya, at the time of abduction and until meeting Lord Shree Raam, real Seetha Dhevee was in Kailaash worshipping Lord Rudraa. No one except Lord Shree Raam can even touch Seethaa Dhevee.

Children's misbehavior
According to a recent newspaper report, a 15 years old boy killed a classmate and injured several others in a school in Bengaluru.
Todays parents and grand parents seem to give too much undeserved lenience to their children with an absolutely wrong perception that it is a gesture of affection.
Such children not only develop bad behaviour but also hurt their spouses, inlaws, and others in house in different ways after they get married.
Our Governments should come up with strict measures to prevent this oddity. It is high time that parents and grandparents are educated rightly on this neglected aspect.
Lord Rudraa, great devotee of Shree Mahaa Vishnu
Lord Rudraa is well known to be a great devotee of Shree Mahaa Vishnu. All Scriptures have clearly mentioned this. ÌSKCON Attapur also mentions this Divine Fact in it's March 2026 Newsletter.
With heavy heart, I fondly remember my beloved brother who had been very devoted to Lord Shree Krishna.

I wish that the souls of my beloved parents and my beloved brother are at the Lotus Feet of Lord Shree Krishna and serve Him eternally.

My visit to dentist
This morning I had been to the dental clinic as follow-up. The dentist got my rotten tooth plucked out. He took updated measurements for my denture. My next visit is on Friday.
Although the clinic is just five minutes walk from my sister's house, as I still have some balance problem when I walk, I use a walker. When elderly people have balance problem, a common solution is to use a walker or assisted by any attendant in the absense of walker. Sushma, my niece, is very kind to accompany me to the clinic and back even when I use walker. She did M Sc Microbiology and B Ed.
Dr Naveen Joseph Muliyil, the dentist, Dr Merlin Muliyil, his dentist wife, and the paramedical staff at their clinic have been very kind and hospitable. The clinic is very patient friendly and excellently maintained.
A few days before I left Chennai and was suffering from severe ill-health, my landlord and his wife, both highly qualified engineers, about whom I have mentioned in my previous posts) were very kind in providing food, packing my luggage and arranging for calltaxi.
My sister has also been very kind although she has pain in the leg due to recent falls; she has been taking medicines for her high BP and diabetes.
I thank all these people. With heavy heart, I fondly remember my beloved brother (six and a half years younger than me) who used to take me many times to Aravind Eye Hospital in Chennai to treat my cataract.

Tech assisted existence
It is an obvious global fact that our day to day living is closely related to the use od gadgets such as mobile phones. I think that although many senior citizens who are 60 plus may not actually like to keep using mobile phones and computers, they are forced by current circumstances to used these gadgets. They are left in dilemma. I am one among such senior citizens.
I came across an interesting article on this issue a few minutes back. Let me share it here.
