My cataract surgery

By God's Grace, I had my second cataract surgery a few days back and prescribed glasses. 

Although I am physically self dependent, as usual, my brother always offered his physical support to me immensely  by taking me to the Eye Clinic (that is located in the suburbs of the city) waiting at different counters and clinic rooms most often by standing (as seats were not vacant due to patient turn over). 

The Clinic staff were also very cordial.

My mother's death anniversary

According to our Maadhwaa community calender, today is the death anniversary of my beloved mother. As in every year after her demise, I and my brother performed the shraardaa ceremony that marks the occassion. I fondly remember my beloved parents. 

Traditional New Year Day

People in many regions such as Kerala and Tamilnadu in India celeberate today as traditional new year day. Besides, people in countries such as Cambodia in South East Asia celeberate today as the beginning of their new year. I have mentioned the historic evidences of the influence  of Indian regional  kingdoms in the South East Asia in my earlier posts.

ABC AUSTRALIA and Aljazeera

As I would have mentioned earlier, Aljazeera and ABC AUSTRALIA have been two of my favourite TV Channels.

It was pleasure viewing a program on Guyana on Aljazeera and one on a music fest in Simpson Desert in Australia, this evening.

Hanumaan Fest

Today is a very auspicious day in the Hindu Calender. It is celeberated as 'Hanumad Jayanthi', birth anniversary of Shree Hanumaan, the greatest devotee of Lord Shree Raam, an Avataar of Shree Mahaa Vishnu. 

Two fests

I had my second cataract surgery on 22nd, past week. That day was celeberated as traditional New Year's Day in many Hindu communities, including the one in which I belong. My best wishes to all those who would have celeberated Yugaadhi.

Tomorrow is a very auspicious day in the Hindu Calender. It is the birth anniversary of Lord Shree Raam, an incarnation of Shree Mahaa Vishnu.  It is celeberated as Shree Raama Navami.

I am having my cataract surgery of my left eye tomorrow. I am advised not to use my computer or mobile except for making or receiving audiocalls, for a month. Hence I won't be writing any post for a month. 

Divine Parents' Fest

Today is a very auspicious day in the Hindu Calender. Today is Ekaadashi, a very auspicious day on which Shree Mahaa Vishnu, our Divine Father is humbly offered special worship by devotees. Today being Friday, is considered to be auspicious and the day's governing Deity, Shree Mahaa Lakshmi, our Devine Mother, is humbly offered special worship by devotees.

Kripaluji Maharaj

Those who are regular fans of Sanskar TV channel's Vaishnavite programs may be familiar with Shree Kripaluji Maharaj and his informative discourses.

Bhutan in Japan

This evening I had the pleasure of viewing a TV program featuring a Japanese person relishing Bhutanese food in a Bhutanese restaurant in Japan. I remember how Bhutanese folks love their green chillies not only as an ingredient in their food items but also as a very common 'vegetable' to eat with a pinch of salt. In Bhutan, even children in primary schools carry green chillies in their pockets and eat them raw, as I and my colleagues had seen 40 years back or so.

Though the program is listed in TV Channel's website, the video is restricted to be played in India, according to the website. However, let me share the link to this interesting travel and food program.

Let me complete my post by sharing a photograph taken in the early '80s when I was teaching in Bhutan. The photo shows me wearing Jeans trousers and a white cotton shirt. Along with me are a few local people. The building at the back is the main lounge of Paro airport, that was being constructed.
