Oddities in Online shopping

It is well known that online shopping is more convenient than direct shopping in that it saves time and energy. But depending on the vendor, online shopping isn't free from risks. I had heard from some one that ready made 'Pancha gachchams' are available nowadays in shops in Chennai. From Google search I found that Ramraj Cottons sells these. Their Web page clearly mentioned "Pancha gachcham with an icon of a man wearing ready made panchagachcham. I  placed the order. But when I received the material, it was long dhoti that is used as panchagachcham and not panchagachcham itself as advertised by Ramraj Cottons. Moreover, the material seems to a blend of polyester and cotton and not 100% cotton. I think that direct shopping is always better unless it is not possible.

Divine Fish

Today is a very auspicious day to Hindus and is celebrated as Mathsya Jayanthi. It was on this day in Kritha yugaa, the earliest yugaa, more than 30,00,000 years ago, that Shree Mahaa Vishnu incarnated as Divine Fish on planet Earth for a good cause, as in all His later Incarnations. (In Samskritam, 'mathsya' means fish and 'jayanthi' means birthday).

Traditional New Year's Day

Yesterday was an auspicious day to mainly to Hindus. It marked the beginning of traditional new year to Indians in many states of the country. Today is the new year's day in other states in the country, as well as in countries such as Thailand and Cambodia According to historic evidences, ancient India stretched from present day Afganisthan to Bali, Indonesia.

Best wishes to all my Indian and Cambodian friends and acquaintances.
