Ghazals in movies

This evening as I was browsing my TV Channels, I bumped across DD National Channel telecasting it's 'Chitrahaar' featuring songs from Hindi movies. There was a song from the popular movie 'Umraao John' that was released in 1980s (if I remember it well).

The movie included very versatile actors such as Nazirudeen Shaw, ever beautiful Rekha etc. As far as I experienced, all songs in the movie were very melodious. The songs in the ghazal type of music from this movie were my favourites for many years.

I first listenined to this song in 1990 when viewing TV in the house of Mr Agarwal, a fellow teacher working in Southern Africa.

That was a time period when I was addicted to western soft rock followed by ghazals, like most youngsters.
